Website designing in a nut-shell

Website designing is no rocket science

Most people are afraid to start designing websites as they think that it would take a lot of their time and brains to do so. Its far more simpler when you get the hang of it and easier than walking your dog (if you have one) in the evenings.
For those of you who did not know, websites can be made from a simple Notepad!
Little do people realize that once you have all the processes identified it takes as less as 2 Days to complete a website!
I always believe in learning things from different sources and then use your own potential to implement it.

Basic requirements to make a website

Web development Jargon :
Domain – If ever, you wanted to go to your friend’s house, the first thing which you would do is to ask him for his address!! Similarly if somebody was to come to your website, they need a domain name! If they didn’t know how to locate you on the internet , how would they ever find you here! Its unique.
Server – It is a computer which is used store/host files/data which can be accessed from other computers, mostly on a network. As the internet is a network of many networked computers, it uses servers to store information about the websites.

Web designing

HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) : WAIT! don’t get scared reading this!!! This is the basic language one must know to start making a website and is a cakewalk. It forms the complete structure of your websites. I have the link at the end of this post for you to learn HTML from one of the most easiest websites I found over the web : w3schools.com

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) : What? What is this??? Well, this language is used to refine the layout of your HTML document which you just made. A must for WEB 2.0 standards. CSS helps you position data/images and covers various fields like : Colors, lines, margins, height etc. HTML can help you do the same but in a very raw manner, using CSS makes the whole process easy, accurate and elegant. p.s : HTML makes the whole web page load slow but added CSS makes it load faster . (one of the measurements of success for websites.)

JavaScript : This is a form of programming language, very different from HTML but very handy to use. It makes the websites visual appeal stand out without compromising much on the speed and makes it more dynamic. This is different from the normal JAVA language and was developed by Netscape. All processes under this language happens on the users computer and not on the server.

After this, what you require is a neat layout! Which is unique and the user should not get bored looking at or reading your content. Analyzing the trends, it shows that most people who are opening websites, want them to open in 30sec on a 56Kbps internet speed connection.
