On 26th August 2010, Canon announced its new camera – Canon EOS 60D which is a latest addition to the landmark EOS Series of DSLRs. Canon has packed the 60D with some great new features and it is set to replace the 50D.   • The 60D has a 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor which ensure great image quality and speed.

  • 3 inch Vari-angle LCD – It  has a 3 inch , 1040000 dot resolution vari-angle LCD.The LCD’s high resolutions shows great colors and it is the first camera in EOS series to have a vari-angle LCD which ensures you don’t miss a shot at whatever angle it may be. With the live-preview you can take high or low angle shots very comfortably. It also reduces the reflection using multi coating and high-transparency materials for bright and clear viewing.
  • 5.3 fps shoot – It has the capacity to shoot 5.3 frames per second up to a maximum of 58 images and a 0.1 second start up time which ensure you do not miss your action shots.
  • Enhanced Scene Analysis for The correct Exposure – The 60D has 63-zone Dual-layer sensor designed to complement the 9-point AF system. This ensures that the 60D is able to capture scenes with extreme difference in brightness as a backlight object; the camera calculates the correct exposure and the picture is not just metered by the brightest area of the scene.
  • In Camera RAW Editing - The camera allows processing, editing and rating of Raw images to JPEG. The photographer need not spend time on a computer for this processing.
  • Full HD Video Recording –   It can capture Full HD video at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 at frame rates variable frame rates of 30,25 and 24.It also includes a wind filter which minimizes unwanted background noise.


Compatible Lenses

The 60D is compatible with the Canon EF & EF-s Lenses and also works with the lenses with inbuilt image stabilizer to  minimize the effect of camera shake. The same lenses can also be used for video recording.


Pricing

The Canon 60D body is priced at $1099 and photographers will have to shell out as much as $1399 for the kit with Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens. The Canon BG-E9 battery grip is priced at $270.
