I dreamt the dream of a shopaholic – a market of epic proportions, all the brands lined up to soothe my fashion frenzied senses; adorned in Carera sunglasses, a Gucci dress and a Dolce bag, I shopped for the perfect Blvgari perfume, all on discount. It’s all about the love of all things good, a perfect distant dream scenario or is it?

Well, its time you think again, because what I am going to talk about is an unreal experience in the real world, a dream come true situation. Think about it, the best of the best clothes by the best labels and designers, the most exclusive discounts and rare pieces of clothing and accessories, shopping all night long, besides your favourite fashion diva’s and I am not joking here because FASHION’S NIGHT OUT is back, the second innings are supposed to be double the fun than last year.

What:

Here it goes Fashion’s Night out (FNO) is the global celebration of fashion and shopping. It is the biggest fashion party, a carnival to be held across the globe where you can shop yourself crazy because the shops are going to be open till 11pm in the night!!!!

Who:

The FNO is a an initiative  spearheaded by the bible of the fashion world, The Vogue Magazine; Vogue has partnered with more designers, department stores, boutiques and high street chains to create a shopping night to remember – promising everything from exclusive discounts to special guests and prize draws.

Why:

The FNO was held last year as vogue’s initiative to bring out the customers to the market. The international VOGUE editions lead the effort to support shops and fashion in their markets around the world through this unique event.”

After 2009, which saw mass participation by shoppers; getting the sales in stores up by 40-60% across the world, hereby proving that shopping is good for the economy, well for fashion at least.

When and Where:

The FASHION’S NIGHT OUT will be spread over a week, staring from 7th September. This years edition of the fno will held across 16 countries (3 more countries than last year), 9 time zones and 11 languages. So this event needs a mention in your diaries or daily planners at least once in one language!

France will kick off Fashion’s Night Out on the 7th September, with Britain and Korea on the 8th, Australia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain on the 9th, India, Russia and the United States on the 10th, China, Japan and Taiwan on the 11th, with Greece and Turkey bringing the event to a close on the 16th September. Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Condé Nast International, said, Each participating country will be stamping their identity on the night, and aiming to maximize footfall into the department stores, designer boutiques and shops, together creating another memorable globe-spanning extravaganza for our readers, and for the fashion and retail industries.

What all will happen here:

Besides the various discounts and all the fun time that is guaranteed the proceeds from the sales will be given off in charity.

London is all geared up to host the event on the 7th September. Highlights will include an appearance from Giorgio Armani, who will be co-hosting a cocktail party with Vogue (London) editor Alexandra Shulman. The evening’s entertainment will also include the launch of Manolo Blahnik’s new Liberty pop-up store – The World of Manolo and Burberry’s in-house acoustic session, while Chanel will be offering free express manicures. Vogue will also launch a limited edition T-shirt.

In New York the FNO will kick off with the biggest public fashion show in NYC’s history at Lincoln Center. The show will feature more than 150 top models and will showcase  trends for fall as determined by Vogue, so as to let the shoppers know whats going to be in for the next season. The show will seat more than 1,500 spectators, tickets start at $25. Proceeds from the fashion show’s ticket sales will be given to NYC AIDS Fund. For months now, retailers and designers around the world have been cooking up ideas for their stores for the second-annual Fashion’s Night Out. Will they throw a cocktail hour? Host a dance party? Fill their floors with celebrities? Play bingo with shoppers? Some of the rare pieces worn by the stars will be on sale while some events will be graced by the presence of the stars themselves. The list keeps getting longer. This is one event you cannot miss!
Inside tip: Don’t be surprised if you see the designers manning their own booths.

The 2010 edition of the biggest fashion party in history promises to be equally epic, splurge inspiring and full of even more stylish surprises. Start your wish lists now,

Till then get set and gear up to shop until you drop
