What is EARTH HOUR?

An hour dedicated to the Earth and its valuable assets. An hour which gives us hope of Earth’s survival. This is an hour when every responsible human being who has love for our environment will make an effort. In this hour every participant turns off every single light in the house or at the workplace to save energy so that our Earth can survive longer.

How it started?

It all began on March 27th at 8:30 pm in Sydney. The day witnessed a thought changing event when about 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for an hour to voice the climate change. Since then every year this act is performed at the same timings around the world. The event was organised by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) aimed at promoting awareness to fight against climate change. Here listed are some of the important supporters in this year’s event:

Why?

Electricity today is an important part of our lives. Using electricity for us is just like breathing air. It is nearly impossible to perform our chores without the use of electricity. Everything like gaming, banking or cooking depends on this vital service. And these things keep us so busy that we never actually think about the things we made Earth loose for our luxuries. All the flora and fauna the Earth lost in making of dams, many species were forced to die due to this. The land bears a great weight where a dam is formed that it leads to the movement of tectonic plates. The land is wasted around the dam so that no one dies if it collapses. And moreover a lot of pollutants are added to the water during the construction of dams.
Hope everybody takes part in this practice and thus understanding the importance of reducing the electricity use in their lives. I we take an extra care of what we do, lots of energy can be saved. Almost everything will come to a halt in the Earth Hour; the only thing that will work is your mind. So use that and think about the beautiful nature full of peace around and you will automatically help the Earth in this fight for survival. SEE THE EARTH FROM THE EYES OF NATURE !
