To be creative can mean being original, innovative, passionate, adamant, simple, fresh or simply put talented. To be artistic can mean being original, innovative, passionate, adamant, simple, fresh, talented AND also someone who has stolen, copied or taken inspiration from!
But when both these words are combined they form a CREATIVE ARTIST.
Painting is an art which is not so favorable to everyone and by no means would I like to discourage my readers to think against the conventional saying that “There is an artist in every one of us” Pablo Picasso once said “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
All what an artist needs is a canvas and his/her imagination or inspiration. Virtually all this has been made possible by the use of softwares like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Gimp and a host of others!! But who in the world would have thought that Microsoft Paint! Yes, the free software that comes bundled with your windows copy would let you make similar, comprehensive and beautiful art work like the ones on the softwares mentioned above!
Arushikha Goswami an MS-Paint artist when interviewed had these words to say about her amazingly intricate work on the simple software.
Q.1) Are you as good on paper as you are on MS-PAINT?
A.1) Well, yeah I think, I’m just as good on paper as I’m on MS paint, but I’m not brilliant because I’m not an art student, never have been. MS paint and normal art is just something I’ve always done to express my thoughts and ideas. Some people write poetry, me, I create stuff on MS paint…I was never really serious about it though. Most of the time it’s just a stress buster.
Q.2) How much time do you take to complete an art work?
A.2) well, it depends really on how intricate or detailed the design has to be…but the complex ones like the Lady on the beach or the tribute to MJ, takes bout 2 to 2 n 1/2 hours. I think the least time I took was 20mins for the ‘Bubbles’
Q.3) Where do you draw your inspirations from for your work?
A.3) anything and everything!! From something I’ve seen and liked, to something that has moved me…
but mostly it’s things in real life that i really like and try to recreate in the MS paint world but adding my style and ideas to it.
Q.4) Have you ever thought of making this a career?
A.4) No, never. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s something like a stress-buster but hey! If some people like it enough then I’m open to the option!
Q.5) Any quick pointer you would like to give others who aspire to paint on MS-Paint!
A.5 ) My advice to anyone who would like to give MS paint a hand, is that, do it when you have all the time in the world in your hands coz it takes time to get it done and further more for it to be perfect. Rome wasn’t built in a day after all! Do not lose patience and…Practice! But more importantly, just have fun!! Because after all, at the end of the day, having fun is really what it’s all about!
Finally, I would leave you all with this quote:
“The key question isn’t “What fosters creativity?” But it is why in God’s name isn’t everyone creative? Where was the human potential lost? How was it crippled? I think therefore a good question might be not why do people create? But why do people not create or innovate? We have got to abandon that sense of amazement in the face of creativity, as if it were a miracle if anybody created anything.” – Abraham Maslow

These are great. I really like the Joker one, although the caption made me laugh. Somebody took all that time drawing it then marred it by saying Marvel, not DC, created the Joker.
