It isn't the same as in the 1980's. I went two summers ago and it honestly was one of the most beautiful places i have ever been. It was great to be able to see my family and get to know my culture. The dangerous parts of colombia are the small towns. The kidnappings don't occur as much anymore , it's more of a stereotype. Same with the drugs. I have been exposed to more drugs here (well than again i live in the bronx, not the best place) than in my two weeks in colombia. Anyway , visiting colombia was amazing and i can't wait to go back......
